How much does a wedding in Italy cost?

The most common question I receive – how much does a wedding in Italy cost? Well, the sky is the limit, but the average budget is €40,000-€50,000 for a mid-size wedding. I highly recommend budgeting for at least that amount to ensure a high-quality celebration. After that, it all depends on your wishes and needs. My database of locations and vendors includes suppliers in a variety of price ranges, from modest to luxury ones. We work with the client to determine which services to use based on their budget.

What is the average time needed to plan a wedding?

It’s best to start planning your wedding at least a year in advance. This will give you more choice of locations – some very popular venues are fully booked 2-3 years ahead! Planning your wedding well in advance allows you to spend more time working on the wedding design, finding unique vendors, and much more. Most importantly, it will allow you to find your dream location available on your wedding date.

Where do you do weddings?

We go all over Italy. Most of our weddings are in Tuscany as it’s the region with the most requests in general. Plus, Italea is based in Florence, so we get more requests for weddings in Tuscany. However, we’re totally open to other regions of Italy and can organize weddings on the Amalfi Coast, in Sicily, Venice, Lake Como, and many other beautiful locations throughout Italy.

What does a wedding planner’s job involve?

The list of duties is very long 🙂 and I’d be happy to send it to you in a direct message. I’ll highlight just a few key things: finding and booking a location befitting the client’s needs, booking all the proper vendors for the wedding, developing the wedding design, and due inspecting the venue. Since we primarily organize destination weddings, clients can’t always arrive before the wedding. I personally visit the locations, and we then decide how to organize the room we have available. By all means, a wedding planner runs day-of coordination on the wedding day. My assistants and I ensure everything goes by the plan.

Do you manage wedding budgeting?

Yes, absolutely! I create breakdown costs in a spreadsheet which allows us to track all wedding expenses online and decide where we can splash a little more and where we can cut down, based on the client’s priorities. I also offer my clients preliminary budgeting, which can give an approximate estimation of each item you have to spend on.

Do you work with your own vendors, or can I bring in my own?

My goal is to ensure a flawless day, so I prefer to work with my trusted vendors who meet Italea’s high standards. I have a strict policy for working with my own food suppliers, lighting suppliers, and florists. All this ensures high quality and safety of the event. At the same time, you are free to choose your own photographer or makeup artist. But again, I can only vouch for the quality of the vendors on my list.

Can Italea organize only a symbolic wedding or a legal one as well?

We have no problem getting you married officially in Italy. Italea has experience in legal marriage registrations as well as in conducting religious ceremonies. Dealing with the local town hall or church has never been a problem or impediment for us. Rest assured, we’ll help you gather all the necessary documents and formalize your long-awaited union.

Do you organize only weddings or do you do other events as well?

We do other events too. We host birthday parties, small gatherings for various communities, and we also help plan honeymoons for newlyweds. I’m currently creating a special community and will be happy to offer more events for local residents. More on that later; it’s kinda secret for now.

What’s your top tip for foreign couples getting married in Italy?

Trust me, organizing a wedding or any other event is truly challenging. Therefore, my top tip is to hire a local wedding planner who understands all the nuances of planning a wedding in Italy and trust them. A local expert has a well-established vendor base, removes language and cultural barriers, has the knowledge and experience to plan everything in fine detail, and maintains direct contact with all participants throughout the planning process. An expert also relieves anxiety from the event itself, you thus can enjoy your big day to the fullest.
